A goal programming approach to simple U-line balancing problem
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, a goal programming model for the simple U-line balancing (ULB) problem is developed. The model is based on the integer programming formulation developed by Urban [Urban, Note: Optimal balancing of U-shaped assembly lines, Management Science 44(5) (1998) 738–741] for the ULB problem and the goal model of Deckro and Rangachari [Deckro, Rangachari, A goal approach to assembly line balancing, Computers and Operations Research 17 (1990) 509–521] developed for the traditional single model assembly line balancing (ALB) problem. The proposed model which is the first multi-criteria decision making approach to the U-line version provides increased flexibility to the decision maker since several conflicting goals can be simultaneously considered. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Fuzzy multi-objective assembly line balancing problem: Fuzzy mathematical programming approach
Design of assembly line is done in order to more coordinate a collection of some consecutive work stations for the aim of obtaining more productivity from the work stations and workers. The stations are arranged in a way to have a continuous and constant material flow. In this paper a multi-objective formulation for assembly line balancing is introduced. As a solution approach a two-step approa...
متن کاملA novel bi-level stochastic programming model for supply chain network design with assembly line balancing under demand uncertainty
This paper investigates the integration of strategic and tactical decisions in the supply chain network design (SCND) considering assembly line balancing (ALB) under demand uncertainty. Due to the decentralized decisions, a novel bi-level stochastic programming (BLSP) model has been developed in which SCND problem has been considered in the upper-level model, while the lower-level model contain...
متن کاملA multi-objective genetic algorithm for a mixed-model assembly U-line balancing type-I problem considering human-related issues, training, and learning
Mixed-model assembly lines are increasingly accepted in many industrial environments to meet the growing trend of greater product variability, diversification of customer demands, and shorter life cycles. In this research, a new mathematical model is presented considering balancing a mixed-model U-line and human-related issues, simultaneously. The objective function consists of two separate com...
متن کاملA chance-constrained approach to stochastic line balancing problem
In this paper, chance-constrained 0–1 integer programming models for the stochastic traditional and U-type line balancing (ULB) problem are developed. These models are solved for several test problems that are well known in the literature and the computational results are given. In addition, a goal programming approach is presented in order to increase the system reliability, which is arising f...
متن کاملAssembly line balancing problem with skilled and unskilled workers: The advantages of considering multi-manned workstations
This paper address a special class of generalized assembly line balancing in which it is assumed that there are two groups of workers: skilled and unskilled ones. The skilled workers are hired permanently while the unskilled ones can be hired temporarily in order to meet the seasonal demands. It is also assumed that more than one worker may be assigned to each workstation. To show the adv...
